- My mother – She never went to school and was the mother of 14 children. She was a classical example of mindfulness because she was totally involved in the family. She inspired me to become a doctor.
Effect on Emotions
- Laughter yoga has helped me to balance my emotions. First, it works like a catharsis. All the negative experiences and emotions from the past that are not in my control, they are all sitting in my subconscious mind. How can I release those? Laughter works like a catharsis, it's a release mechanism.
Thoughts on Breathing
- Your thoughts are connected to your breathing. With stress, your breathing gets faster. I cannot control my thoughts, but I can control my breathing.
- The way you can change your thoughts is by changing the way you breathe. So laughter yoga and breathing exercises help you to bring down the number of thoughts and relearn how to breathe from the belly and from the diaphragm.
- That brings more parasympathetic balance and you become more relaxed.

Bullying Story
- We introduced laughter yoga in 2010 in different schools and we were just doing 5 to 10 minutes of laughter exercises with school children.
- And our focus was not bullying, but the focus was helping children to reduce stress, improve their oxygenation, academic performance.
- But surprisingly many teachers in Bangalore's schools, they reported that laughter yoga has helped in their school to stop bullying. When children start laughing, the bullying takes a back seat, so this was a surprise element for us.

Easter or Passover Meditation of Peace
Friday Apr 10, 2020
Friday Apr 10, 2020
This will be a different kind of Easter or Passover than you’ve probably ever had. We’re in lock-down or quarantine because of covid19. Almost all of us on the planet are being careful to observe social distancing. Please take this seriously. Stay at a distance from others, at least 2 meters or 6 feet away.
Today I’m sharing a meditation to bring peace and groundedness to you.
I will offer certain phrases and leave time afterward for you to gently repeat them in your own mind.
The phrases will help you become grounded. They’ll help you find peace.
There will be a lot of repetition here. That’s where you’ll find relief.
I encourage inclusiveness, I encourage to let go of being judgmental, to accept what is.
I encourage being connected rather than being alienated.
To be caring rather than being indifferent.
The phrases will be simple and general, yet will empower and support your well-being.
The phrases I’m offering will be an act of generosity.
Let me be safe, let me be healthy, let me feel peace and let me feel contentment.
Feeling peace and contentment means, let life not be such a struggle.
Let me accept life, let me live in the moment and be willing to remain in this moment.
Remember this is not about forcing or about pushing to make something happen.
It is about allowing, about letting go to make room for what works.
Let me be safe, let me be healthy, let me feel peace and let me feel contentment.
We’re not focusing on fear or anxiety, we’re focusing on what’s pure, what’s natural, what is.
The more we can accept what is, the more we’ll thrive, the more we’ll be able to support each other.
Let me be safe, let me be healthy, let me feel peace and let me feel contentment.
Thanks for listening.

Find Happiness and Success Even Through Traumatic Events; Forrest Willett
Thursday Apr 09, 2020
Thursday Apr 09, 2020
Forrest Willett is a sought-after speaker and survivor of two traumatic brain injuries. The first was at 2 years old and the second was when he was 31, his life was forever as a result of a violent car accident. He had to relearn all the basic necessities over again – reading, writing, the ability to speak fluently, memory was a big issue. Forrest suffered from depression for over 5 years. He was 31 years old with a 2-year-old son, he had an excellent career, his business was booming. He felt helpless and hopeless. He was forced to make some tough decisions, like taking 100% responsibility for his life and giving up all blaming and excuses and complaining. To begin to overcome these limitations he had to quit looking back. He would wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and expect his former self to be there. He realized he did have a new chance at life, he could start over and make his new life a great life.

Effect on Emotions
- I would say that mindfulness has taught me to love and accept myself just the way I am. When I can do that, that's all I need in the world.

Thoughts on Breathing
- The breathing lessons that I've learned from my speech therapist and my occupational therapist are that they fill the brain with oxygen and get the oxygen flowing in the brain.
- People who are depressed and anxious .... would probably take short, shallow breaths. Take in deep breaths and hold it for a few seconds and relax, it calms your whole body.

Use Mindfulness To Pivot During Anxious Times
Thursday Apr 02, 2020
Thursday Apr 02, 2020
Bruce (00:01):
Welcome to Mindfulness Mode and welcome to this special edition. I want to share some thoughts and ideas with you as we move through covid19. I mean, it's such a challenging time for a lot of people and, and it may not be for you, maybe it's not challenging for you at all, but there's one thing that I totally believe in. I think most people who are realists believe this. I'm not a pessimist. I can be an optimist, but I consider myself a realist. And that is that our world has changed in a major way. It is changed in a monumental way and we're going to start to see over the next few months what those ways really are. But man, wow, I was out today. I was in a store, one of the very, very few that's still open.
Bruce (01:03):
And I will tell you that people are so hesitant to be anywhere near each other, which is good because we must practice social distancing. We must do that to flatten the curve. But I mean, fear is settling into people. And, and I understand that completely because in my family we have some fears, we have a lot of fears, especially with my wife being a critical care nurse and working on the front lines and going in and have them tell her that, you know, she's only going to be given, you know, three masks for a 12-hour shift or two masks or a 12-hour shift or that there are only enough of those kinds of protective devices to last for a few more days. Man, that is scary. And my wife is not an alarmist, so I mean these are, these are challenging times. There's no question about it.
