Kayla Ihrig has been known for roaming the globe since she bought a one-way ticket out of the United States in 2017. She has spent most of her time abroad ever since. Pushed by the feeling that life was passing her by at her nine-to-five, she found work online and fumbled her way through an attempt at executing the exact lifestyle she wanted. As a writer for publications like HubSpot and GoDaddy, she built an online business that now supports both her and her husband as they drift around the world. Her book ‘How To Be A Digital Nomad‘ is available worldwide on January 30th, 2024.

Effect On Emotions
- I often find myself feeling overwhelmed quite easily.
- This tendency seems to be inherent in the lifestyle of being self-employed and frequently traveling abroad.
- However, it's crucial to remain mindful of what is truly necessary. Identifying the pressing issues at hand is essential.
- By narrowing down the focus to the current situation and addressing specific problems, I've realized the importance of not getting bogged down by the bigger picture. This approach has had a significant impact on my overall well-being.
Thoughts On Breathing
- I make a conscious effort to be mindful of my breath, especially in moments of anxiety or when feeling overwhelmed.
- This practice extends to bedtime, where I consistently center my attention on my breathing. As a result, I notice my body gradually relaxing.
- In the past, falling asleep was a challenge for me, but now, with the incorporation of focused breathing, I find that it significantly helps the process of clearing my head before bedtime.
Bullying Story
- I have not experienced a lot of bullies in my life. I've been very lucky in that regard. No stories come to mind there. I mean, I've experienced a lot of negativity and some name-calling in the workplace, but I guess I never classified it as bullying.
- I think bullying is a pretty impactful negative experience.
